Been in the US since 1998, have an EB-2 PD of 2001, have played by the rules all along. Still no GC... And, the dates are going back to 2000 from the new year.. I've lost hopes...
I'm pretty close to getting clinical depression because of this game played by USCIS, Labor Dept, FBI and my own bad luck.
SKILL bill, OMNIBUS, etc. comes and goes. IV does seem to be doing things to lobby for the community, but let's face one reality. Like a news article said, no one in congress or senate wants to touch immigration even with a long pole until 2009.
The US has been very good to me (other than the GC part), more than my home country (India) which is why I'm still here.
Have invested too much of time in this country to just pack up and go. Just curious if any of you feel this way? How do you handle such depressing feelings?
Believe me dude when I say that GC is not the real problem of being depressed. There are other so many kinds of problems in life which have no bearing on whether you have a GC or not . I personally have some of them and I wish they were gone . They are my priority and to me GC is just a vague distant dream .. if it comes true well and good or else life goes on.
Health, family and friends come above anything and if you have all these lined up good and well they beat having a GC :)
Get busy with anything that you can find .. maybe try making some friends and you will find "its a wonderful life !"

Our Chinese friends are also posting this at Chinese grocery store, on websites and also at local news forums.
I need volunteers in bay area! Please send me a PM with your e-mail address, if possible phone numbers and a good time to contact so that we can spread the word in Bay area. I already have one volunteer need more.

These guys are not consistent. I should have gotten a 2 year EAD.
Dunno who to take this up with.

I don't know why USCIS just don't make their ( and our) life simpler by just issuing 2yr EADs. Deciding how close to current is close enough for 1 yr EAD is extra effort. If its a funding issue, they can give the customer the option for multi-year EAD and extra fee.

This is my first post to the forum, and i am not if this is place to post ?, i have two years left on my H1 B (into 4 yr) and my company is going to file for my labour this year (Hopefully) in EB2 category. Point is very simple: If a person has a valid job offer then by all means go ahead and apply for H1 from any status (be it H4, F1, B or Z...) but if you don't have a proper job offer then please don't apply for the H1 visa through a body shop as you are taking away a valuable visa #, which unfortunately are very limited.

I got some good news. I called uscis just now and got two receipt numbers, one for 485 and one for EAD. Checks not cashed yet. I don't have the receipt number for AP yet. So it seems that our box is not lost and they're processing them, though so slowly. My application arrived on 7/3 at NSC, received by R. William at 9:03am.
Hope every one of us will receive our receipts, EAD and AP asap.

Previous years Oct Visa Bulletins doesn't look encouraging at all, EB-3 India moved by a week and other categories move by a month or 2. With USCIS taking huge no. of applications in june'07 the future of oct'07 seems to be pretty bleak, It is quiet depressing. We surely need this legislation of ability to file 485 even if visa dates not current.

lawsuite and all will never get us to a point where we want. nobody can force
the state department or the USCIS to forcefully accept 700K applications, and then for next 20 years the dates will be struck. specially for people who have been waiting since 2000,2001 and 2002 cannnot be clubed together with people who came in 2006 or 2007, that is going to be fairly injustice and they know that.
I think it will be better to focus our energy on legislative changes or else nothing will get done, no body can push 700K applications down to the throats of USCIS when that have already exausted the quota.
better focus on contacting senators or house members to get some legislative relief.

we get excited before and few days after the bulletin ...the fact is that iron is no longer hot ..no matter what we do now -- it is too late. democrats focussed on healthcare instead of immigration and are fighting a losing battle ..they will be too tired to do anything after that. for those in EB3 and those who are in EB2 (but not yet filed 485) ...all they can do is have a strong plan B ..make as much money as you can while the sun shines ..the odds of getting a GC is worse that winning a lottery (so might as well buy few tickets now and then !!).
the only slight hope is that since amnesty is as good as dead ..they may pass some sort of recapture (maybe to give additional boost to housing).

DC is the right place even on a weekend also just protesting infront of the uscis office will get media attention .....we should plan for this.i know less than 1000 people will be a failure ..can we try to get the mood of the IV for this kind of event ...

If one receives the card than don't worry about ADIT processing.
Those who are seeing the 'Welcome Notice malied' status have ADIT mentioned in the Case Status online. There is NOTHING to be done at your end except waiting for the cards once your case is approved. USCIS will NOT approve a case unless the FP is complete - refer to the 485 adjudicator field manual.
Just like their legacy IT systems, USCIS standard email messages are also in the same league and have not been updated. Wait for the cards and contact USCIS only if you dont receive them in a reasonable amount of time - read two weeks from case approval date.

I think it's tough for anyone to predict exact EB3 -> EB2 porting for this year at this point in time....It's definitely going to increase every year...unless some rule changes...It was pretty clear even before this lawyer posted that EB2 will have no or very slow movement without any spillover...
